Ian Dipple Lagoon on the Gold Coast

Ian Dipple Lagoon is located on the Gold Coast in the suburb of Labrador. Labrador is in between the suburbs of Biggera Waters and Southport which is a stones throw away from Surfers Paradise.

The nearest cross street is Marine Parade.

Ian Dipple Lagoon is easy to find once you are in Labrador.

On the corner of Marine Parade and the Gold Coast Highway, you will see the Grand Hotel. Cross Marine Parade and you will see Charlis Seafoods.

Charlis Seafoods is right next to Harley Park.

The Lagoon is at the back of the park about a one minute walk from the car park.

Charlis Seafoods - Labrador

I have tried the fish and chips and the seafood extender salad from Charlis Seafoods and it was a very tasty treat.

Ian Dipple Lagoon is great if you want to go swimming but do not want to be bashed around by the surf.

This makes it an ideal place for the elderly and a worry free place to take the kids.

Beneath the Ian Dipple Lagoon sign there is a bronze plaque which reads:

Ian Dipple Lagoon Dedicated 4 March 2000
Grand Hotel - Labrador Gold Coast

This lagoon was named after Ian Dipple. In Honour of the world champion water skier. Who was tragically killed in a skiing accident in November 1999. One of his greatest personal achievements was winning the Sydney Bridge to Bridge race with the use of only one arm due to a tendon injury. This area is where Ian spent most of his time training and racing as part of his 20 years of tireless dedication towards the sport of water skiing.

This lagoon was officially dedicated by Councillor Joe Sciacca.

If you like birds, you can see many pelicans and ibis hanging around this park. They usually hang around for food but there is a sign in the park which says do not feed the ibis.

There is plenty of unit holiday rentals and houses to rent can be found easily by checking with local realestate agents or by checking the classifieds section of the local newspaper, The Gold Coast Bulletin.

The most affordable time is when the holiday season is over. This is when the accommodation prices drop dramatically.
